Ongoing product development is aided by Product visualization of in-process designs. In this case, the Proficient flagship powered subwoofer got a new grill design. Product engineers at Proficient Audio supplied Del Padre with CAD files which were surfaced and rendered in a museum quality environment with remarkable detail. Actual production materials such as grill cloth and cabinet surface coatings were scanned and applied to bump and texture map images to most accurately recreate what a finished unit will look like in various lighting conditions. As this image suggests, the use of these techniques can make for images virtually indistinguishable from actual photographs. This image was created with Maya 7 with Mental Ray.
